Gatehouse Bank Colleagues Raise Over £10,000 for FareShare

Gatehouse Bank has today announced that its employees have raised over £10,000 in aid of FareShare, the Bank’s Charity of the Year for 2022.

FareShare was selected as the Bank’s charity partner through a staff vote, with Gatehouse Bank employees opting to back its vital work of redistributing surplus food to nearly 9,500 charities and community groups across the UK. For every £1 pound donated, FareShare redistributes the equivalent of four meals to those in need, also sparing greenhouse gas emissions which would have otherwise resulted from food going to waste.

Throughout the year, the Bank’s staff engaged in numerous fundraising missions, including charity runs, a virtual rowing challenge, and groups of colleagues completing the One Million Step Challenge and the Jubilee Walk. For each activity, Gatehouse Bank matched the amount up to £200. To further boost donations, the Bank also organised several social events, including raffles and bingo tournaments.

Charles Haresnape, CEO of Gatehouse Bank, commented: We are immensely proud to have supported FareShare over the last 12 months, with our colleagues donating generously and actively participating in several fundraising efforts.

“We are thrilled to have reached the £10,000 target and hope that it has made a difference towards helping FareShare to redistribute thousands of tonnes of surplus food to those in need.”

Miriam Emanuel, Corporate Partnerships Manager at FareShare said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Gatehouse Bank’s staff for their brilliant fundraising. The £10,000 they’ve raised will make a huge difference in helping us get good-to-eat surplus food, that may otherwise go to waste, to people across the UK impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.”
