Job Summary

Financial reporting & control is a function within the finance department which overseas statutory reporting, management reporting, budgeting, tax and daily product control reporting. The Financial Controller will work closely with the finance team and the Head of Finance to manage the product and financial control function and support monthly, quarterly, half-year and year end and reporting.

We offer personal and corporate savings products and finance for UK residential and commercial property, in addition to sourcing and advising on UK real estate investments.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the daily reporting, month-end and quarter-end close process including review and approval of the journal entries, consolidation of subsidiaries
  • Oversight of the accounts payable function including processing payments, approval the journal entries in the accounting system
  • Preparation of month-end Flash report and management accounts
  • Forecasting the financial results monthly
  • Preparation annual financial statements and liaising with the external auditors, and providing relevant information to ensure their queries are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Liaising with the auditors
  • Preparation and submission of tax returns to HMRC in a timely manner
  • Oversight and improvement of internal controls across the Bank’s Finance department
  • Oversight and improvement of financial control over the subsidiaries
  • Develop and regularly update the Finance department policies and process notes
  • Oversight of accounting process and ensuring all new accounting standards have been implemented on a timely basis
  • Evaluate and manage the operational risk on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensure compliance of financial reporting with appropriate laws, regulations, internal and external requirements
  • Provide Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Quarterly reports in a timely manner; Adhoc reporting as and when required

Other projects

  • Project management (macro fair value hedging implementation)
  • Support product control reporting re-design
  • Assist with the implementation of any new systems

Skills required

  • Meticulous and detailed in producing analysis and interrogating systems
  • Able to work towards strict timeframes and is comfortable with multi-tasking
  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and problem solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Familiar with financial ledger systems
  • Logical and methodical in problem solving
