“We aim to be at the cutting edge of the innovation of new products to ensure that Islamic Finance is able to fully satisfy the investment and hedging needs of our clients, across all asset classes.”

Martin Westacott, Treasurer

The Treasury team continue to develop an extensive network of relationships with corporates, financial institutions and insurance (Takaful) companies that need access to global Shariah-compliant capital markets. Such partners include Islamic banks and finance houses with established credit facilities; wholesale conventional banks with Islamic capabilities; and corporates looking for Shariah-compliant hedging opportunities as well as Islamic money market product capabilities. Our aim is to nurture and grow these relationships to enhance engagement and reciprocity of business with such financial institutions.

The Treasury team takes a primary role in pro-actively managing liquidity and funding requirements to meet internal and external ratios and diligently manages market risk on behalf of the bank and its clients. As well as providing dedicated products and services, the Treasury team engages in short and medium term money markets to raise funds for the bank as well as enhancing the bank’s profitability through the foreign exchange markets.

Diverse product capability includes:

  • Mudaraba
  • Commodity Murabaha/Reverse Murabaha
  • Wakala
  • Exchange of deposits
  • Cross-currency swap/profit rate swap
