Gatehouse appoints Trevor Homes as Head of Real Estate Finance
LONDON, 13 October, 2015: Gatehouse Bank plc (“Gatehouse”), the London-based investment bank specialising in Shariah-compliant products and services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Trevor Homes as Head of Real Estate Finance, effective 13 October, 2015. Mr. Homes will lead the firm’s Real Estate Finance department in the origination, underwriting and management of commercial real estate financings. His appointment will play a crucial role in building Gatehouse’s ambition to increase its financing activities.
Gatehouse has established itself as a notable player in real estate finance, following the completion of a number of successful financings over the past year. With the ability to provide innovative financing solutions for commercial real estate in multiple asset classes across the UK and Europe, the firm is able to respond quickly to market opportunities. Gatehouse competes with a range of banks, including those who provide financing on a Shariah compliant basis and those who offer conventional loans.
Mr. Homes joins from ICG Longbow, where he was Partner and responsible for establishing its senior debt programme, growing AUM from a standing start to over £750 million in 24 months. He brings with him over two decades of experience across all aspects of commercial real estate, and has worked through two complete property cycles for a variety of balance sheet lenders. He has held senior leadership positions at UniCredit, where he completed over £3 billion worth of new British and European financing packages, and Deutsche Bank where he was senior originator.
Henry Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Gatehouse, commented on the appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Trevor to Gatehouse and I believe his expertise will prove extremely valuable to our Real Estate Finance business as we continue to enhance our offering for clients. Trevor is a well-respected banker with vast experience in domestic and cross-border real estate financings across all asset classes. In particular, he has an impressive track record in building loan books which exceed profitably targets, while effectively managing high performing teams.”
On joining Gatehouse, Trevor Homes commented: “Gatehouse has a fantastic business supported by an excellent team, and I am looking forward to becoming part of that. Gatehouse enjoys a wealth of relationships with equity sponsors globally and I am excited to help build upon the progress which has already been made, and at a time when the business is looking to increase the size of its financing book.
“I believe we have the opportunity to establish Gatehouse as a leading provider of financing to the mainstream commercial real estate sector, whilst providing a flexible and responsive approach to all our clients, with a strong focus on the underlying property.”
Shariah-compliant savings products might be considered mainstream but they are absent from the majority of websites which compare rates.
Savers are missing out on some of the most competitive rates on the market because Sharia-compliant banks are being excluded from most best-buy tables.
UK challenger Gatehouse Bank has added two new senior hires to its direct finance team following the appointment of Gemma Donnelly as Head of Direct Finance.
